1. Preface
i. Historical Background :
Balijan Sankarjyotil High School, established in the year 1982, is situated at No 2 Balijan village of Golaghat District in Assam. Historically, the Karbi people inhabited in this region from ancient time and they have much more contributions in establishment of the School. Now the region is home to a diverse community. People from various backgrounds now reside here. This region is now known for its tea gardens and rural charm. No 2 Balijan was once considered an educationally backward area, with the local children lacking access to higher education. It was only in 1974 that Balijan Kather Gaon M.E. School was established and eight years later, in 1982, Balijan Sankarjyoti High School was established to provide secondary education to the children in the region.
In 1991, Balijan Sankarjyotil High School was provincialized. Over the decades, the school has grown in size and stature, with various improvements made to its infrastructure, teaching staff, and student resources. However, challenges remain in terms of infrastructure repairs, modern teaching facilities, and increasing community engagement.
The Perspective Plan for 2026-2029 is designed to address these challenges while enhancing the quality of education and ensuring holistic development for all students.

Physical Aspect:
The school is consist of 8 buildings and allows natural light to flow into classrooms during the morning hours.
1. Main Building:
There are 10 classrooms, two staff rooms, a headmaster's office, a clerk office and a library in the school.
2. Playground and Sports Facilities:
In front of the school,in the west, there is a large playground used to play football, cricket, and other outdoor activities. To the east of the school there is an another small playground where a Basket ball and volleyball court is located.
Surrounding Environment: 1. Natural Surroundings:
The school's surroundings are made picturesque by the tea gardens, paddy fields, tall trees, and charming village houses and shops.
2. Access Roads:
The main road leading to Balijan Sankarjyoti High School approaches from the East and North that connects to Marangi Chariali,Golaghat and Doigrung. Smaller village roads extend to the west and South connecting the school to neighboring hamlets and residential areas.
