Historical Background : Balijan Sankarjyotil High School, established in the year 1982, is situated at No 2 Balijan village of Golaghat District in Assam. Historically, the Karbi people inhabited in this region from ancient time and they have much more contributions in establishment of the School. Now the region is home to a diverse community. People from various backgrounds now reside here. This region is now known for its tea gardens and rural charm. No 2 Balijan was once considered an educationally backward area, with the local children lacking access to higher education. It was only in 1974 that Balijan Kather Gaon  M.E.
